Frequently Asked Questions
When is this event? Masquerade is generally held the Saturday preceding Halloween. In 2010, the event was held on Saturday, October 30, and the date for Masquerade 2011 is Saturday, October 29.
Where is the event located? Sammons Center for the Arts is located at 3630 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, TX 75219. We are at the corner of Harry Hines Blvd. and Oak Lawn Ave. in the historic Turtle Creek Pump Station. Click here for a map.
Where do I park, and is there a parking fee? There will be complimentary valet parking available on site.
Do I need to arrive right at 7:00? There will be special events and activities happening throughout the evening, so the later you arrive, the more likely that you will miss out on something special.
Are food and drinks provided? Yes, complimentary food and drinks are included in the evening's festivities.
What is the dress code? We recommend that you dress for after-five and above, however we will not enforce a strict dress code. We do ask that you not wear any athletic wear. There will be a costume contest, and several people will be in ball gowns or tuxedos. You can not be overdressed for this event.
Do I need to wear a mask? Masks are strongly recommended, and we will have some available for purchase at the event.
How should I pay for the silent auction items? We will ask that everyone provide a credit/debit card before they receive a bidding number. However, when you cash out at the end of the evening, you can choose to pay with cash, check, or utilize the card on file.
What kind of auction items will be available? For the 2010 event, we had over 100 auction items available! A sample of items indludes:
- Trip for 2 to New Your City with tickets to a Broadway show!
- Professional photo sessions for your child for 16 years!
- 6-months of online or telephone language lessons!
- Diamond & pearl earrings!
- A fully-stocked 12-bottle wine fridge!
- Gift cards to local restaurants!
- Specialty gift baskets!
- And more!
Who does this event benefit? Proceeds from Masquerade support the operational expenses of The Women's Chorus of Dallas, which enables us to perform our subscription concerts as well as outreach with several local and national causes.
